Peer Academic Coaches Overview
What is a UHP Peer Academic Coach?
A peer academic coach is a current or former UHP student who has a passion for helping and coaching first-year UHP students on success strategies as they transition from high school to college level honors courses.
Qualifications & Skills
- Possess strong interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
- Basic knowledge of online platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, etc.
- Maintain a passion and enthusiasm for helping peers succeed at FAU.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coach first-year UHP students and co-develop success strategy plans with assigned cohort of students.
- Collaborate with UHP staff to plan and create materials for the peer coach days built into the common hour (6 total).
- Partner with other UHP Peer Academic Coaches to co-lead discussions and activities during peer coach days.
- Participate in Peer Academic Coach Professional Development Series (During Monday common hours not designated as peer coach days).
- Assist UHP Engagement Coordinator in various logistics involving the common hour or UHP events.
