To help students, faculty, and staff in our owl community develop the skills and confidence to become effective and ethical speakers who can communicate ideas clearly in face-to-face and mediated formats.

Vision:

The Speaking Center is a FAU initiative to advance the oral communication competence of all students, faculty, and staff brought to you by the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies in partnership with the Center for Learning.

Our services support students and faculty to become more confident and effective speakers. Our consultants assist in presentation preparation, public speaking skills, and speech anxiety. We look forward to seeing you become a powerful speaker!

How do I make an appointment?
How has the Speaking Center helped students?

Over 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students have benefited from visiting the Speaking Center since 2020. Public speaking is a crucial aspect of all majors and professions, and our Center helps refine those skills. Academic and personal improvements can be noted as students increase their grades and level of confidence. 

When should I make an appointment?

Our consultants assist at any stage of a presentation’s preparation. From research to outlining, to delivery, we are here to help you brainstorm, develop, and present. Visit the Speaking Center today!
